STEAM Photography Academy can support New Mexico students through creative photography, digital media, STEAM enrichment, and responsible technology education. The program can be adapted for schools, after-school programs, summer learning, community youth programs, and grant-funded initiatives.
A City CDBG Public Service Grant application has been submitted for program support. Funding has not been awarded at this time, and program availability may depend on grant approval, partner sites, final budget, and implementation requirements.

Hello, I'm Miss Megan — founder of **STEAM Photography Academy**, based right here in San Juan County, NM. I've been in love with photography since I was a child, and now I'm passionate about sharing that magic with your entire family. Whether you're looking for an active, creative outlet to get your kids off the couch and exploring, or you want to master your own camera, we have the perfect path for you.
Photography is more than just clicking a button — it's about seeing the world differently. Through our interactive STEAM education courses, we replace passive screen time with screen-free activities and real-world exploration. We don't just teach photography courses for kids — we build a complete digital citizenship curriculum into every track, teaching kids how to be safe, smart, and responsible online. Why I'm Changing Course
I originally built this as a course families could buy. But the more I taught, the more one truth kept me up at night: the kids who need these creative skills and online-safety lessons the most are often the ones whose families can least afford another subscription. So I'm pivoting. Instead of a product for those who can pay, I want this to be a **school and community program** — woven into classrooms, after-school programs, and youth groups so that **every child in our community can learn it, regardless of their family's income.**
The child growing up in the trailer park deserves the exact same creative education and digital-safety knowledge as the child in the six-bedroom ranch with horses out back. Same skills. Same protection. Same shot at the future.
My goal is to start right here in San Juan County and grow this statewide — and then nationwide — until no kid is left behind simply because of their zip code.
